Why Choose Alpine Damp?... 

Alpine Damp are a truly independent damp surveying company, with no connections to any damp proofing companies, and therefore have no interest in financial rewards from remedial works, which, may or may not be required as a result of our inspection surveys.

We aim to provide you with a totally unbiased and accurate damp survey, in order that you have a true understanding of the source of the problem. Unfortunately, there are many companies that will provide a “Free Survey” with the hope of selling expensive remedial works upon completion of the survey, sometimes costing many thousands of pounds, and on most, if not all occasions, they are not required, and are mostly damaging to the property.

With the correct survey and diagnosis, in many situations the rectification is inexpensive and does not require expensive Damp Proof Courses to be installed, or expensive wall surfaces. The key is to be thorough in the survey approach, using experience gained over many decades and locate the actual cause, as opposed to assuming that it is something else, normally misdiagnosed as "rising damp".

Sadly, in many cases, damp is ignored by the owners as a non-important issue. However prolonged exposure to damp can cause serious health risks with mould growths and added moisture causing respiratory issues. The ongoing risk to the building is the deterioration of plaster, contamination from salts, and erosion of the structure, sometimes causing unnecessary costs, if the issue isn't correctly diagnosed, sooner rather than later.

Many people consider the Mortgage Valuation survey to be one that will highlight any issues worth considering. This is not the case, the Mortgage Valuation survey is to ascertain if the mortgage requested is covered by the value of the property in the worst case scenario that the mortgage cannot be covered.

Alpine Surveys made the whole process really simple, and everyone was polite and courteous throughout the whole process. From my initial phone call enquiry, to the actual day of the damp survey and then some follow-up advice to some questions I had after receiving the report, Alpine Surveys provide a complete professional service. Mark is a surveyor who specialises in diagnosing the cause of damp in period properties. I was having a property surveyed which had a few damp issues, it was 1900 built victorian property. If it wasn't for his survey specifying what remedial works needed to be carried out I wouldn't have purchased the property. AJ’s analysis says that the issue is condensation and can be fixed by installing extractor fans and insulating exterior walls. I mentioned specifics because others might have very similar issue. I should write another review once issue is fixed.

Mark attended on time he was polite and explained everything as he was going through giving me a verbal report at the end of the visit followed by a written report two days later. He also answered a follow question after the visit. Good communications from the main office making arrangements and rescheduling as we had to do a couple of times. Quick responses to enquiry.
