Penetrating Damp

Penetrating damp can be found in any room or level of a property or building. There are a few different ways that penetrating damp can occur: through the roof of a property, windows and walls.
Typically, penetrating damp shows up through damp patches on a wall, floor, and ceilings. If when it rains, part of the walls in your property or building darkens, it could indicate that there is or may be penetrating damp present.
Growing circles or patches of damp and drops or puddles near or around your windows or doors could also be a sign of penetrating damp.
If you have penetrating damp or suspect you may have some areas of concern around your property, it’s best and advised to get it checked out as soon as possible. If it is ignored and left to worsen over time, in a result it will spread to other areas of the property, meaning a potentially larger bill to get it looked at and rectified.
Luckily, there are some measures you can put in place to prevent penetrating damp from making its way into a property or building.
The first thing you can do is keeping an eye and regularly checking your loft space for any defects, deterioration or signed of water coming through the roof.
Check all of the rooms in the property for any visible signs of damp or moisture; this would include sudden imperfections on wallpaper or paint starting to chip in areas that it shouldn’t be.
