What Is A Damp Inspection?

A damp inspection should be carried out by an expert damp inspector and inspects a property for signs of damp and the likely cause of the damp, along with the identifying the source of the issue. The report will then provide detailed information to help rectify any issues found.

Damp in any property is a problem and could potentially lead to expensive repair costs if the source of the damp isn't identified and dealt with. There are however a number of myths relating to damp within a priperty, hopefully this guide will put your mind at ease and better inform you of the process involved when conducting a damp inspection.

What Does The Damp Inspector Look For?

When a damp inspector conducts a survey on the property, they will check a number of areas, such as the damp proof course (DPC) and other areas likely to be the source of the problem, such as window frames, doorframes, ventillation.

 

  

 

How long does a damp Inspection take?

The length of a damp inspection very much dependends on the insppectors findings and the size of the property, for example if the insppector is only assessing a lounge and a kitchen it should take anywhere between one hour and one and a half, however, if it is a 4 bedroom house it could be anywhere between two to four hours. 

Will I get a damp inspection report afterwards?

After every single damp or mould inspection that we conduct here at Alpine Surveys, within 48 hours you'll receive an indepth and detailed report explaining all of our inspectors findings and a list of recommendations for the rectification works. 

How much will a damp inspection cost me?

The cost of a damp insection varies depending on the size of the property and how many rooms need to be inspected. Here at Alpine Surveys, we have pricing structures based on a single room right through to a full house damp inspection, however, rest assured our prices are very competitive and reflect the quality and professionalism of our inspectors

Do you undertake the works after the damp Inspection has been carried out?

As we are specialist independent damp inspectors, we do not work in conjunction with contractors, or builders, therefore we do not undertake the remedial works, but do list the specific works needed in the standard comprehensive report. This makes us unique in the way that we offer an unbiased, honest and reliastic report as we have no financial gain from any remidal work conducted following the outcome of our findings
